About the Bookstore

Where is the Clarkson College bookstore?
The Clarkson College bookstore is online and does not have a physical location. The online bookstore is operated by BNC (Barnes & Noble College) which bought MBS Direct. Students may get communication from both BNC and MBS Direct.

What is the website for the new online bookstore?
http://bncvirtual.com/clarksoncollege

Where can I buy Clarkson College spirit wear?
Clarkson College t-shirts, hats, bags, etc. can be found through our online Marketplace, http://clarksoncollege.mybrightsites.com/. You can also find a limited selection of gear in the Marketplace located in the Student Center on campus.

Do I need to create an account to buy books?
Yes, you will need to create a bookstore account the first time you use the Clarkson College bookstore. Your account is where you can track your order, view your order history, submit returns, return rental books and sell back your books.

Books & Financial Aid

What is a bookstore voucher?
A bookstore voucher allows you to use financial aid funds to cover the cost of your books. Rather than paying with a credit or debit card, you can use available financial aid dollars. Your charges will be sent to Clarkson College and applied to your student account

Does everyone get a voucher?
No. You must have available financial aid funds after all tuition and fees are paid. If you are eligible, you will receive a voucher via email.

How can I use the voucher?
Access the online bookstore at http://bncvirtual.com/clarksoncollege, click on Bookstore Voucher, enter your student ID and Voucher ID, and follow the steps on the screens.

Whom do I contact if I have questions about the process?
You should contact the customer service line at 800.325.3252. If they are not able to answer your questions or fix a problem, they will direct you to someone at Clarkson College who can help you.

Why did I not get a voucher email?
You did not receive an email to use a voucher because you didn’t apply for financial aid and/or your financial aid wasn’t enough to cover all your tuition and fees. Contact your Financial Aid Counselor if you believe you should have received one.

Can I get more money for books?
If you have charged up to the full amount of the voucher and you need to purchase more books, you should contact your Financial Aid Counselor to determine if additional funds are available.

Can I use a credit card to pay the balance if my bookstore voucher doesn’t cover the full cost of my books?
Yes, you can provide a credit card to pay for the balance of your bookstore charges if your voucher isn’t enough.

Is this voucher a scam?
No, it’s not a scam. The new online bookstore sends emails regarding vouchers to all students who have financial aid funds available in excess of their tuition and fees. The online bookstore is operated by BNC (Barnes & Noble College) which bought MBS Direct. This means that you may get communication from both BNC and MBS. You will receive an email from “BNC Services” with the email address “VB@news.mbsbooks.com” which is a legitimate email and contains information on how to use your bookstore voucher.

Does this mean I get free books?
No, it doesn’t mean free books. Your books are being paid with your financial aid. The voucher allows you to purchase your books through the online bookstore without paying with a credit card and the charges will be applied to your student account at Clarkson College.

What does this do to my financial aid refund?
Your financial aid refund will be reduced by the amount you charge in the bookstore.

Example: if you were going to get a $1,000 refund from your financial aid and you charge $600 in the bookstore, then your refund will be $400.

What if I’m a student using VA Education Benefits for books and supplies?
Students should coordinate directly with student accounts at StudentAccounts@sauvezlasynagoguefleg.com.

About your Books

How do I know what books I need?
You can locate your books using the course ID number or the ‘Shop by Schedule’ option. To use ‘Shop by Schedule’, enter your student ID number to see a list of registered courses. If you do not see your registered courses, it means your schedule has not yet been uploaded to the bookstore. Check back, or simply enter the course ID to view your textbooks.

My course says I will receive course materials the first day of class. How does this work?
Your instructor may choose to have your course materials embedded in your course on our learning management system, Canvas. If this is the case, you will need to ‘opt-in’ through Canvas to purchase your course content. Your instructor will provide more information.

Some of my books say “required/previous purchase” What does this mean?
Sometimes your course will require a book that you used in a previous class, or a class you are taking that same semester. You do not need to purchase a duplicate copy. Double check your cart before checkout to ensure you are not purchasing multiple copies of the same book or eBook

Shipping

How do I get free shipping?
Free shipping is available during the times designated on the bookstore’s webpage: http://bncvirtual.com/clarksoncollege. Typically, free shipping is available the first two weeks the bookstore ‘opens’ for the upcoming semester.

I had my books shipped to the College. How do I get them?
Textbook pickup is available at new student orientation the Friday before the semester starts. If you are not able to pick up your books at new student orientation, they will be available for pickup Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Library.
